Webinar Speaker Spotlight: Dr. Martine Boulianne

As part of Canadian Poultry‘s new Egg-Centric Learning Series, we are excited to feature Dr. Martine Boulianne, who will share her research on enriched colony and aviary housing systems.

With Canada’s egg producers transitioning to alternative housing systems by 2036, Dr. Boulianne will provide critical insights into this shift.

Her multidisciplinary team has evaluated key aspects such as bird health, performance, welfare, and air quality across 24 commercial farms in Ontario and Quebec.

Attendees will also learn how to manage health challenges like coccidiosis and necrotic enteritis in aviaries, along with recommendations to make informed decisions during the transition.

Dr. Boulianne is a professor at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Université de Montréal, and Chair in Poultry Research.

With expertise in poultry diseases and biosecurity, her current research focuses on preventing necrotic enteritis, addressing emerging diseases like Enterococcus cecorum, and controlling foodborne pathogens in poultry.

She leads the Poultry Research Centre, a facility dedicated to poultry health from farm to table, and is actively involved with the egg industry, including her role on the Egg Farmers of Canada’s Salmonella Enteritidis Scientific Advisory Panel.
